Trying all New Zealand Craft Beer: A Beer Club

I decided that it would be a good plan to try as many beers made in NZ as possible (ignoring the stock standard fare until later). And so the challenge begins. Myself and 6 "colleagues" who have the same interests will gather once a month at a beer club and sample New Zealand Craft Beer! The initial brief is...Lets start with ale...s! I'm starting with the southern most brewery, Invercargill Brewery and their Pale Ale "Stanley Green" The rest will be revealed after the "tasting"

One Day in September

16th October 2009

Its been almost a month since my last confession... ok so its all a bit vague to be honest.... Below the 45th was the theme.... well that was the idea! Started with the invercargill stout.....not bad at all, and after D's reference to Mr Clinton, it looked like we were in for a good one. Not sure of the order.... we tr...ied the Invercargill smokin Bishop.... best kept in the bottle.... a tasty bock mixed with tasty smoke and too much flavour destroyed this. The next installment in the Emerson's arsenal was the new weizenbock.... different again as a wheat beer with bits of spice. Then there were some imports from up north. The dux brewery got a few guernseys! If my memory serves me well they were not bad but not fantastic. The dark lager didn't seem to do much. The stout was good. and the strong ale....no idea...And then there's the mystery bottle. We got some very local brews from some random (forgotten the connection!) punters Homebrew that hamish ran into in between meetings!

So I just realise that there is a character limit...anyway on the last beer....wasn't bad but as D has said elsewhere...still tasted like a home brew.

Managed a few sneaky's in between....tried the emerson's bewitched.... (another wheat beer!). Back to the home land.... fat yak, little creatures, a moo brew at the trans...port bar with a budvar (thanks Sam and meg!) Back with the boys on GF day.... tallies of coopers pale, CUB invalid stout (delicious!) and I can't get away from the little creatures PA.....

better get back to the "bewildered" emersons summer weisebeer on draught!

Next week is Nth island
